One month ago, your sister, Agnes, 24 years old, had an auto accident.  Since that time, she has been in a coma and only machines have permitted her to breathe and be alive.  At first, there was hope that an operation might save her but she entered the coma and has shown no signs of life after that time.

DR. OSCAR RODRIGUEZ
One month ago Agnes Cervantes Leal, 24 years old, had an auto accident.  Since that time, she has been in a coma and only machines have permitted her to breathe and be alive.  At first, there was some hope that perhaps an operation could help her but you believe that she is not in strong enough physical to survive the operation.  All evidence indicates that only the machines are keeping Agnes alive and you must now inform the family of this fact and suggest that they permit the hospital to disconnect the machines and permit Agnes to die.

DR. ARMANDO VARGAS
It is true that the machines are keeping Agnes alive in this moment, but her heart is especially strong and there have been some movement of the eyelids and that indicates that she could awaken from the coma naturally.  There have been cases of people who were in comas for years and then woke up and had normal lives.  If the families had disconnected their machines, those people would have died.

DR. LEONARDO FERNANDEZ
You cannot recommend the operation, but you can tell the family about the case of Juan Uvalde who was in a coma for eight months and the family was ready to turn off the machines when Juan woke up and today he is working and having a normal life.  You cannot permit the family to disconnect the machines now.  Agnes has a chance of surviving if people will have faith in her.
